We tried it here, got exactly the same hang in the same way.  We (an
ACM Student Chapter at UNLV), are more than willing to try debugging
the kernel, test strange kernels, etc but we are extremely new to BSD
(I've built 3 NetBSD kernels, but I don't really know what I'm doing),
so it would be nice if somebody can help us get started.

Steve
