Don't be. ;-)  It's a remnant which shows that the software was
built for our local software maintenance system called "Store",
where we use /store much in the same way as most other people use
/usr/local (well, that doesn't quite grant justice to the Store
system, but nevermind).  Creating the symlink as you've done
should make it work just fine.
