I'm just about to put a a release-format snapshot of
	base.tar.gz
	comp.tar.gz

on ftp.netbsd.org (and ftp.dsg.stanford.edu) in ~ftp/arch/pmax/snapshot/.
This snapshot contains ELF shared-lib binaries that should run on
a NetBSD-current kernel as of November 11th or later.

			PLEASE NOTE:
The details of the ELF .o format, and the implementation of
the dynamic linker (ld.so) in this snapshot are subject to
change without notice. In particular, the ld.so is likely
	to be replaced.

The shared binaries should also run on a 1.2 kernel.
If you want to try these on a 1.2 kernel, a good strategy is probably
to unpack ./sbin/ldconfig, ./lib, and ./usr from base.tar.gz by hand,
thus leaving your existing 1.2 /sbin and /bin intact.

Note that the arguments to reboot() have changed since 1.2,
and a post-1.2 /sbin/shutdown and /sbin/reboot are unlikely
to work properly with a 1.2 kernel.

The comp.tar.gz contains binutils-2.7 and gcc configured and built
for shared libraries.

and, again,
