I just copied a "final" set of NetBSD 1.2 binaries to
ftp.netbsd.org,:~ftp/pub/NetBSD/arch/pmax/snapshot
ftp.dsg.stanford.edu:~ftp/pub/NetBSD/arch/pmax/snapshot
The distribution sets should be the ones shipped with NetBSD 1.2.
I've also put out a new miniroot image, miniroot-1.2.gz,
which is close to the final version but may be updated slightly.
There are two changes in this miniroot over the previous miniroots:
1. It includes a bootable diskblock in the first 8kbytes. if
all else fails, you should be able to dd the unzipped
miniroot onto a c partition (d for i386) and boot it. No
other steps are *absolutely* necessary.
2. This miniroot includes support for booting with serial
consoles on all supported models of DECstation (that is,
everything but a DECstation 5100.) Earlier versions had
problems booting at all (with serial consoles) on Personal
Decstations or 5000/200s, and may not have been able to ask
for a root device.
There is also an TFTP-bootable (ECOFF-format) kernel, netbsd.ecoff
(non-generic) that should be network bootable. I may replace that
with a ECOFF-format "swap generic" kernel if that would be more
useful, and if diskless-boot really works.
My thanks to everyone who's helped out with in the release, including
testing, feedback, bug reports, and comments on the Web pages!
