With -current kernels from yesterday (June 11th), -current with your
email patch to me, and -current from today (June 12th), I get the
following on the console every now at then:

	asc_dma_in: FIFO count 81 flags 24

and the system hangs. Most of the time this is while I'm running a
disk I/O benchmark, but once (with the yesterday kernel and your patch)
it happened before /etc/rc finished after a reboot (the reboot I did,
not the kernel :-).
