I just unplugged an LK-201 from a 5k/240 running NetBSD, plugged
in an LK-201, and started X.  Xev shows that both left and right
shift keys generate Shift_L.

I then rebooted, with the LK-401,  and restarted X.  Same behaviour.

I'm not sure what else to try to reproduce Helge's symptoms.
Power-cycling, maybe?
