Actually, the alpha boot program, which has to work with boot rom
routines that are i guess reasonably maxine-like, is able to
understand partitions, etc.

I use a secondary /boot, but even the boot block itself understands
partitions.


it should be doable for the pmax (though i had to really hack the boot
block in very ugly ways to make it fit...  8-)
