Herb,

I managed to boot my 3100 with the bootblocks and and miniroot
filesystem successfully with the ethernet active by doing a hard reset
before typing the boot command.  I could ifconfig le0, and all seems
fine...

If I tried to boot after a halt from Ultrix, then I got the lock-up
problem.  Maybe you could give this a go?
