I haven't looked at the boot block code in NetBSD - it may be small
enough for all I know.  I believe that the limit was something like
sixteen blocks total, but it might be somewhat different - I don't
remember.  My solution was basically to butcher the boot block program
and take out all the generalized functionality that I didn't need on a
disk boot block - e.g., tape booting...

If you're successfully building the right kind of binaries, why not
just build them all?
