You should set Verbose booting (which you can set with the 'p' command at  
the NeXT> prompt.  It is much more helpful than the GUI booting.

You can also set the boot command to 'en()netbsd' using the same 'p' command  
(p = preferences).

Just once.... You can set all this and it will be saved with the CMOS  
battery (or whatever they call it).

Once you have the preferences set, you can remove the keyboard again.
