I was tipped by Mr. Soda that Vahalia book would have 2nd edition.
Is it available now?

Both books have JP translation.  The translators in charge are well
known figures and I can assure you their authority.   Prof. Tokuda of
Keio Univ. is one of the most respected CS researchers in Japan.
