There's been a discussion over the last few days on current-users about
exactly this, with the subject line "recent import of file(1)".  In
a nutshell - magic is right, GNU binutils is wrong, but the binutils
maintainer doesn't want to change.  No conclusion has been made yet.
No one seems to be able to win!
