Hmm, in power saving mode the backlight should be turned off.

... and this is likely the information I was looking for. If radeonfb 
guesses the wrong reference clock then all the video frequencies would 
be off too. So I'll add code to pass this information to radeonfb if 
available, let's see if that helps.
