Did you unregister shimgvw.dll with regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll or some  
of the GDI stuff as part of the unofficial WMF hotfix/workarounds? If  
that isn't it, I don't know what to say other than check and make  
sure your content/type/MIME/handler/plugin stuff isn't messed up  
somehow.
