This iMac here has MacOS 9 installed. Any HFS should do, plus or not.

I'll have to do something similar at some point - running everything
over the network is painfully slow for some strange reason. Any
filesystem that OF understands should do the trick, after all it's only
for ofwboot.xcf, the kernel can sit on a NetBSD ffs partition.
