May be pdisk tries to make sense from random data that is on the disk.
Try pdisk with -ci arguments and then create a new map
pdisk won't get the ofwboot file on the disk. If you plan to make the
machine boot only NetBSD you can make a small hfs partition > 800kByte
(see man hformat) and after installation of the Install CD install
/pkgsrc//sysutils/hfsutils/
This will allow you format the hfs partition mount it and copy
ofwboot.xcf to it (all commands prepended with a h ).
In my installation I did afterwards use hattrib to
a- change the attribute of ofwboot.xcf to exec
b- mark the whole volume (:) as bootable, or bless in apple-speak
(hattrib -b : )
I'm not sure which of the two is neccessary, but before openfirmware
ignored the ofwboot file.
for the intermediat reboot something like >boot cd:\ofwboot.xcf
hd:<your root partition number goes here>/netbsd
should work.
