The unpatched mesh driver could cause panics in the filesystem layer -
failed reads would not cause an error, just an empty transfer which
would make the filesystem think something really bad happened.

Someone else will have to comment on that, maybe it's related (
filesystem code is definitely involved ) maybe not.

> Is a mesh patched kernel available yet?

The patch has been pulled into the 3.0 branch a few hours ago, just
watch releng.netbsd.org for recent enough macppc kernels. Or, if you're
in a hurry tell me what kind of hardware you have ( dmesg output or a
kernel config will do, just mail them directly to me ) and I'll build
one for you. Can't guarantee this will be done before there's something
on releng though, and it will be a -current kernel which probably needs
an updated bootblock to load properly ( all you need for that is
available from releng.netbsd.org or I could just include them with the
kernel in case you want one )

have fun
Michael
