That's what others call DDC - basically some monitor ID pins are
(ab)used as I2C bus to talk to the monitor and get information about
supported frequencies, display size and the like. It's not necessary for
proper operation and at least with this driver it doesn't seem to work
on non-PCs anyway for some reason - it fails on sparc64 with a Rage Pro
too, but it works on my iBook with a Radeon. Probably easy to fix but
I'm pretty sure it won't help you.
