well, i managed to get OS9 to see the cd-rom drive properly.  now it'll
mount the 9.1 CDs as well as the OSX CDs.  attempted to install OSX on
this 8600.  crap, it won't install to the IDE disk via the PCI-IDE
controller.  not a problem, there is enough space to cram it onto the
9.1 disk.

the Installer for both 10.2 and 10.3 both crash.

looks like NetBSD it is for this machine!!

now to fix the gnucash problem and the middle mouse button problem, and
i'll be completely ok with that.  ;)
