Hi,
I know that several people are working through the shared interrupt
problems seen on machines with PCI bridges, and I thought I'd share a
data point which seems pertinent.
I have / care for a number of six slot PowerMacs. One of them is my home
computer with a 700 MHz G4 running OS X 10.3.6. I noticed pretty early on
that if I had my USB / FireWire combo card or an ethernet card in one of
the three bottom slots, it'd work until I used it a lot. Anything more
than a few seconds of FireWire copying, or anything more than just a
little network traffic would cause the system to hang (not panic). So, it
seems that Darwin also has problems on these machines, too.
I'll soon be setting up a test machine - a 9500 with a dual 604e which
will route / NAT for at least four separate networks, plus a PCI IDE card.
Between the interrupt fixes and the MP issues, this should be a good test.
Thanks, everyone.
John
