ok, so i've given up on the CD which seems to be bad.  i can't seem to get the
thing to netboot, so i'm taking a stab at floppy booting the thing.

however:

wonko@ford$ dd if=boot1.fs of=/dev/rdiskette bs=36k

wonko@ford$ ls -l boot1.fs
-rw-r--r--   1 wonko    other    1474560 Jun 25 08:17 boot1.fs

i tried the MS-DOS bootfloppy thing, and that was a complete failure as well.
