I tried the above generic kernel on my iBook (G3 900MHz/640M) this
morning and it starts to come up ok.  Then I'm asked:
Enter pathname of shell or RETURN for sh:

I hit enter and the world stops with:
/: bad dir ino 2 at offset 512: mangled entry
panic: bad dir
Stopped in pid 13.1 (tset) at netbsd:cpu_Debugger+0x10: lwz r0, r1, 0
x14
db>

The machine did boot ok with a 1.6 kernel.  ident output for that kernel
gives:
$NetBSD: GENERIC,v 1.171.2.1 2004/04/05 20:52:25 tron Exp $

Any suggesions?
