Hi,
the same kernel configuration used as on 1.6 didn't work after
updating to 1.6.1.
The kernel failed to load init:

wsmouse0 at ums0 (mux ignored)
boot device: <unknown>
root on wd1a dumps on wd1b
root file system type: ffs
exec /sbin/init: error 14
init: not found
panic: no init

After fiddling with config options I found out, that after removing
options OFB_ENABLE_CACHE
from the config file, the kernel boots successfully.
Does someone else see this problem?
