It has been known to cause problems.  I had problems with my tibook
crashing when it was enabled, but Matt Thomas suggested a fix (marking
the ofb region as guarded) which works.  I don't know if that also helps
the other systems that didn't work (I seem to recall someone mentioning
a 9600 with a specific video adapter--check the archives for details).
