Here's the problem:
I have gotten myself in quite a pickle! I got System X disks from a friend
and just wanted to load iMovie (not upgrade) so I started clickling through
the intstall windows to do a custom install of just iMovie - well no such
luck. So I cancelled the install and restarted the computer - can you say
"expletive!"
The screen came up white with the following "DOS" looking message:
bootr, unknown word
Failed to boot
Apple iMac Open Firmware 3.0 f3 built on 12/02/98 at 10:25:41
Copyright 1994-1998 Apple Computer, Inc.

ok
So after I regained consciousness, I typed "boot" at the > prompt and it
booted - switching to a screen that began "Loading ELF" and I didn't have
time to read the rest. Anyway, I have run Norton, reinstalled the sytem
software, optimized and still -- everytime I restart the stinking computer I
get the same white screen and message.
Do you have any suggestions of ideas where I can find help if you are too
busy??
I would GREATLY appreciate anything you can throw my way.
Sincerely,
SUPER Mac-fused!
