I agree entirely with this principal. (Derek's made the same request
of me, and it seemed perfectly reasonable.)

Just the same, I think Bill's advice is well-taken. If you really
want people not to reply to your privately, you can make that happen
by using procmail (which, if carefully designed, can be used to
delete duplicates rather than file them separately, btw), and you
can probably rely on Reply-To: headers on the NetBSD lists, though
many others strip (or overwrite) them. (This latter is *really*
easy in mutt; read about the send-hook configuration option.)

Many mailing lists (notably, those managed by Mailman do by default)
insert a Reply-To: with only the mailing list address. This means
that even if someone does a group reply, an intelligent MUA (mutt,
again, dtrt here) will ask if you don't really want to use the
Reply-To: address. Based on other NetBSD mailing list policies (cf,
spam), I doubt that'd happen here.

Now that I'm being hypocritical by contributing to this thread at
all... this really has *nothing* to do with NetBSD/macppc. Perhaps
ayone who wants to continue the conversation can gather up the email
addresses of those who've shown interest and email all of us
privately if they've got more to say?
