Hi,

according to the FAQ this has been fixed in the current kernel.
My G4/533 Mhz just crashed with that error:

wdc0:0:0: lost interupt
	 type ata tc_bcount: 1024 tc_skip: 0
wdc0:0:0: intr with DRQ (st=0x58)
wd0f: device timeout writing fsbn 3120772 of 3120772-3120773
      (wd0 bn 22577188; cn 22398 tn 0 sn 4), retrying

[..messages repeats..]

wd0: transfer error, downgrading to Ultra-DMA mode 2
ata4 conf = 0x11328ca, cyc = 8 (55ns), act = 0 (0 ns), inact = 6
wd0(wdc0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DA mode 2(Ultra/33)
(using DMA data transfers)
wd1(wdc0:0:1): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DA mode 2(Ultra/33)
(using DMA data transfers)
wd0f: device timeout writing fsbn 3120772 of 3120772-3120773
      (wd0 bn 22577188; cn 22398 tn 0 sn 4), retrying

the only way to get the kernel back up is to restart the G4.
