Hi,

I recently returned to NetBSD and got it up and running with only a
couple of problems. I'm running now, but wanted to comment about the
installation.

I got the 1.5.1 iso and made a CD.
I'm running a PowerCenter 150 (OF 1.0.5, patched previously).
Getting to OF via serial cable from a linux box (NetBSD box is
headless).

install(8) indicates that a possible appropriate boot command is

boot scsi/sd@3:0,OFWBOOT.XCF NETBSD.RAM
                                    ^^^

Well, the name of the kernel image on the iso is netbsd.macppc, which
I didn't bother to check (silly me). The boot command may be
appropriate for those that pull down the kernel image themselves, but
using the iso image, the kernel name is different. So after several
failures, I discovered I could boot with:

boot scsi/sd@3:0,ofwboot.xcf netbsd.mac (Note lower case and .mac)
                                    ^^^
Perhaps this could be mentioned in install(8)?

Another problem I had was that I couldn't set the timezone during
install. I was taken to the timezone selection screen, and the first
several zones were listed. The screen flickered slightly for a while
(I assumed it was retrieving a list of all the timezones). I started
to arrow down, but after 15-20 seconds, the screen stopped flickering
and it hung. Hard. I had to reboot. Happily, the installation had
completed successfully and a simple symlink of /etc/localtime fixed
the timezone problem.

I think my motherboard battery might be almost dead, so maybe that
contributed to the problem.

Two minor problems. Otherwise, it was a great joy to set up.

Thanks,
Geoff
