If it's that important, maybe you could put the CD-RW in that machine.

There has been talk of trying to netboot using a SUNW,hme. I'm not
sure if anyone tried it yet, but I suspect you've got all the hardware at
your disposal. The suspicion is that the Open Firmware driver on the hme
will "just work" in a PowerMac.
