This number is >= 9 I'll bet you.

If you have MacOS X on the machine then you can do a pdisk, l, 
/dev/wd0 and it will give you the actual partition numbers.

Of course I don't know if ofwboot will allow partition numbers in its 
argument yet so it may not matter.

"boot hd:,ofwboot.xcf netbsd" will get you the kernel from the same 
partition as ofwboot.

Isn't this covered in the installation instructions?  I know they are 
long and consequently confusing, but I thought MW had tried to cover 
everything anyone might need.  Don't have them in front of me now.
