Hi,

here is the error. I can reproduce it at anytime :) usually on an
extraction - sometimes on a download to the disk.

it all gets a bit messy with the unrefreshed install text but you
get the idea:

trap type 300 at 86fc00
panic: trap: pax -zrpe -f /mnt2//macppc/binary/sets/base.tgz

Open Firmware, 1.0.5
To continue booting the MacOS type:

To continue booting from the default boot device type:

on untarring the kern.tgz I also got this, but it continued
onwards:

     Status: Finished
    Command: pax -zrpe -f /mnt2//macppc/binary/sets/kern.tgz

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
gzip: <fd:0>: invalid literal/length code: Undefined error: 0

I booted from the scsi-int/sd@3:0 with a floppy sitting idly in
the floppy drive.

here is my dmesg:
http://vulcanised.rubberduck.com/8600.dmesg.install.txt

since that dmesg I have removed all RAM except for one good 64
chip, and also removed the PCI SCSI host. The machine booted for
a while, but wa unstable on extraction again (I can reproduce
this with comp.tgz and xserver.tgz):

trap type 300 at 198968
Stopped in tar at cpu_Debugger+0x10: lwz r0, r1, 0x14,
db>

any ideas?
