The recent changes to machdep.c have restored the USB keyboard during 
boot on the early model B&W G3s that appear to use a slightly different 
version of OF 3.0.  It now recognizes input corrrectly at the "root 
device" prompt.  This is with a GENERIC kernel built on today's sources 
so this is real progress!  Unfortunately the keyboard is dead by the time 
it reaches the login prompt.

I've managed to get a 1.4.3A system running and can build -current 
kernels, so if anyone has some suggestions for additional source changes 
I'd be happy to try them out.
