Related problem: a friend offered to backup/repartition/restore my
  Maxtor 30GB HD so that I could install NetBSD (along side MacOS).
  However, he could not get his ATA/66 card to mount it. Strangely,
  FWB Toolkit recognizes the HD and detects the current partitions.

Any suggestions?
