The "printer" port on a Mac is a serial port, not a parallel port.
Don't buy an (expensive) parallel <-> serial converter, you don't need it. =
A simple Mac modem cable should work... you might need a null modem in =
line too, which can be obtained from Radio Shack for around $5.

I wrote control when I meant command. Sorry.

Yes, I was suggested to press the key combo even before the chime started,
and holding them until I saw the ofw prompt. I've tried that a few times,
and after a while the screen stays blank. But this is not the way the
documents say.

Allen Briggs told me not to hook to the PC parallel port, but to a serial
port. That might be the problem, and I'll have to wait until I get a
convertor from parallel to serial next week.
