I finally got Openfirmware all figured out and the machine running fine.

Now i'm trying to get the basics installed like bash and SSHD.

first thing i noticed is that even scrolling text on this machine is very
slow compared to even a Pentium 200.

After ftp'ing down the source for ssh and bash and running tar to extract
them i notice that its not just scrolling but everything on this machine is
very slow.. it took almost 5minutes to compile bash.

Has anyone seen this before?

The machine is a G3-450,1meg backside cache, 256megs ram, <blue&white tower>
ati vid card, scsi drives etc etc..

All i can say is this doesnt look right at all.. i was expecting performance
to be amazing with the PPC..

Thanks in advance
Dave
