I was just wondering. Is there any reason to *not* include the following
command in the standard installation procedure for OF 1.0.5 machines?

setenv real-base F00000

Of the latest snapshot kernels I tried, only the ones with a ramdisk
actually boot with the default real-base (-1) set. The kernels that fail
do so while ofwboot.xcf is loading them.

This is with the following ofwboot.xcf (version 1.2, load-base 600000):
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/macppc/snapshot/20000620-1.5/installation/
ofwboot.xcf>

The kernels which work with real-base -1 are:
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.5_ALPHA2/macppc/installation/floppy/bo
ot.fs>
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/macppc/snapshot/20000620-1.5/installation/
netbsd.ram.gz>
<ftp://nandra.iri.co.jp/pub/NetBSD/macppc/netbsd.hfsboot>

The kernels that only work with real-base F00000 are:
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.5_ALPHA2/macppc/binary/sets/kern.tgz>
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/macppc/snapshot/20000620-1.5/binary/kernel
/netbsd.GENERIC.gz>

AFAICT, setting the real-base does not cause any problems. To set it back
to the original real-base, run:
set-default real-base

Comments?
