Subject: Beige G3 booting again

Can someone explain this to me:
On a beige G3 266 the "ide" OF entry has a child called disk. (
pci/mac-io/ide/disk)
The only property of the disk is "name" . Now looking at ofdev.c in
(macppc/stand/ofwboot ) in devopen routine the code returns ENXIO if the
"device-type" property is not found.
How is it possible to boot from an internal ide drive on this machine? Or
am I missing something abundantly clear?
TIA
Andy
