Don't bother. bootxx doesn't work on OF 3.X machines (the iMac & B&W G3,
etc.).

Can you just netboot it? That'd be the easiest. There's a problem I'm
trying to track down with the ide drive not working after OF boots from
it.
Another option would be to go with MacOS partitioning, which is available
in -current and recent -release branch kernels. Then keep an hfs partition
around. I think it's fine to boot the kernel right off of there.
