Same result, 0 packets transmitted, 0 received.

Hadn't thought of that, though... but ping would have timed out on
DNS lookup, and doesn't it know better than to look in DNS to get
localhost? Isn't that - theoretically - in /etc/hosts? Oh, I guess if
I set it that way in /etc/<something> (blanking here).
