I guess you have used sysinst to install. Sysinst does not take
care setting boot disk on your OpenFirmware variables (yet).

You have to change your boot-device?= parameter if you want to
auto boot.

Or like my self, put auto-boot? false, and type booting string
manually everytime machine reboots.

is the string when I boot StarMax 3000/240 or 3000/200 type machine.
