Yes, unfortunately, the SCSI on the AV models when running NetBSD is
very slow, and causes many clock ticks to be lost :(
Michael Zucca wrote some code to add support for DMA SCSI
<http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-mac68k/2003/06/08/0000.html>, but
it was sent as copies of the modified files, rather than a patch, and
nobody has gotten around to try to extract the changes and apply them
to newer source. Michael mentions that his code doesn't really improve
performance, but that it should be possible to refine it to make things
much faster.
