Hello,

I'm attempting to install NetBSD 2.0 "softfloat" [1]
on a Powerbook 190cs. Unfortunately, the IDE disk
driver appears to be broken: accessing the machine's
single IDE disk continuously for a short period of
time causes the operating system to cease functioning
properly (all processes seem to permanently freeze,
but the TTY echo continues to work).

I found a message [2] which states that the
"softfloat" environment makes IDE disks unusable
and that the reason for this is unknown. Would
someone tell me more about this? Is it known with
certainty that this is a problem with "softfloat,"
and not a problem with the 68LC040 chip itself?

TIA
