In a word, "yes". I'm using about ten of them at the moment, some from 
Apple, some from Asante. All of mine are AAUI-to-TwistedPair and require no 
external power. Some years, I also had some AAUI-to-AUI adapters from 
Asante that required external power, but I don't seem to have any at the 
moment (and you probably are asking about the TP type, anyway....)/
