There are couple of different versions of NetATalk in pkgsrc.  Also 
the kernel support for netatalk is turned on in GENERIC (or used to 
be).  That gets you AppleTalk.

I notice now that you are specifically referencing LocalTalk.  No 
there is no support for the serial line hardware implementation.  The 
best I think you can do is EtherTalk, and use one of those adapters. 
Asante put out one when the iMac came out without LocalTalk.
