BTW, there might be some other problem here.  I seem to remember
that the sysinst kernel didn't have a problem with numerous LC040s,
nor did my kernel that I first built with softfloat differ from the
stock 1.6 kernel.  The kenerl that I have on my site is one to
work with the PB540 trackpad, so it is slightly different.
