I agree with the latter.  I will, in fact, work toward making this happen.
The sun[23] might need different ones, I'm not sure yet.  We did the same
for powerpc (unified bus_dma, but included by the individual ports
instead of a <machine_arch>/conf/files.<machine_arch>).

That's on my list now that I have finally put a monitor back on my
development mac68k machine and upgraded the booter so I can boot
-current kernels again...
