The short answer is no. It did allow me to change the address in MacOS,
but when NetBSD booted, it read the "hardware" address, not the
"configured" address. So I'm still a bit stuck.

The only way I can get my system registered is if I can use a web-browser
(IE 5.5) to reach the "self provisioning" website. I can't do this
from my Centris under MacOS or NetBSD (at least not directly).

At this point I see two options:
1) Find a way to clone my Centris sn0 MAC address onto my Win98
ethernet adapter. This way I could register the sn0 address
before I try to use it on NetBSD

2) Enable IP/NAT on the NetBSD box so I can get out onto the
"temporary registration" network that DHCP returns.

This is my eventual goal, but I was hoping to get basic
tcp/ip working first. I do have a second ethernet card in the
   Centris (ae0 10.10.10.1).

DHCP does come up on sn0, but with a 10.x.x.x address and
a bogus route and nameservers that lead only to the registration
   site.

Maybe someone could offer a minimum NAT setup which could allow
me to try this? Do I need ipfilter and NAT? Configuration files
   for both?

Thanks,
gene
