It's either a multi-drop equivalent to RS-422, which is
primarily a point-to-point standard, or it's an extension
of RS-422 to multi-drop applications. Perhaps that's two
ways of saying the same thing. I ought to read the actual
specifications to figure out the best wording to use. It
is quite common in control applications as a simple low
-cost, low-speed speed network medium.
