1.5 did boot on my 280c using the internal display (No Dock, just 
floppy adapter).  The LC040 on the other hand kept most programs from 
running :-(.

No idea what the differences are between the 2 machines.  I think the 
280c is just an 040 version of the older models with colour display and 
the modem included.
