Which monitor and are you using a video card? My IIci uses the 12" monitor
#M1296, which is, I think, Sync-on-Green, for internal video. A video card
will cause all bets to be off, however. The Q700's video subsystem is not
the same as the IIci's but I'm pretty sure the same range of monitors
will work on it.
Yes, you can run it headless/consoleless. The FAQ describes a method of
connecting a paperclip or other convenient lead into the video port (I
don't remember the pins offhand, 4 and 11?) to trick MacOS there is a
monitor there, and obviously you don't need anything plugged into the
ADB. I would strongly advise having a serial console configured and on
hand if you want to run in this configuration, though, until you get it
stable and trustworthy.
Also, since I'm wary of "shorting out" my monitor port I use a Mac video->
HD15 converter on the port that I have spare, which contacts the pins and
has the same effect.
